" THE TICKET OFFICE"

( A woman looking around in amazement bumps into a ticket collector)

[WOMAN] Oh sorry. Hey! Is this really heaven??

[Ticket Collector] No madam, not quite. This is the ticket office

[WOMAN] Ticket office! I didn't know you needed a ticket to get into heaven. Although I guess it makes sense. We don't want just anybody getting in do we!

[T.C.] No madam, no we don't

[WOMAN] Well, I'll have an adult sing please - don't think I'll be needing a return (Laughs to herself)

[T.C.] I'm sorry madam, but I don't sell tickets. I just check that your ticket is in order, and if so, will let you through

[WOMAN] Where do I get one then?

[T.C.] All tickets must be aquired on earth madam.

[WOMAN] Well that's a bit difficult, I can't really go back now can I?

[T.C.] No maam, no you can't. But maybe you've got one on you somewhere

[WOMAN] Well I don't know that I do (Finding ticket) Ah! Here you go!

[T.C.] This ticket is to certify that the bearer has led a good life, loved her children, was faithful to her husband, and was always kind and courteous

[WOMAN] Except with my neighbours, they used to annoy me a bit, you've never met such pompous, ill mannered...

[T.C.] Yes maam, but I'm afraid this ticket isn't valid.

[WOMAN] Isn't valid? What do you mean?? It's got all the right things on it!!

[T.C.] Maam, this ticket isn't valid, perhaps you have another one on you somewhere.

[WOMAN] Yes! Here you go, this must be the right one!

[T.C.] This is to certify that the bearer is of sound mind and body, was selfless in charity work, hospitable, went to church every Sunday

[WOMAN] Sometimes twice!

[T.C.] And gave generously to the work of God - and in short is pretty terrific.

[WOMAN] That just about sums me up!

[T.C.] And her modesty is second to none.

[T.C.] Maam, I'm sorry but this ticket isn't valide either

[WOMAN] Isn't valid? Well I don't think I have another one

[T.C.] Then I'm afraid I can't let you in

[WOMAN] Surely you could sell me one, you must have some lying around somewhere

[T.C.] Maam I told you, I don't sell tickets. Besides, they're given away

[WOMAN] Given away! Did you say given away! Then why didn't I get one?

[T.C.] Probably because you didn't ask for one.

(A man comes past)

[T.C.] Ticket p l e a s e. Thank you sir, that's all in order, please go in

[WOMAN] Hey!!! How come you let that man in???
I know - it's sex discrimination, that's what it is!

[T.C.] No maam! He gave me the right ticket

[WOMAN] (Snatching ticket) Let me see that!

This is to certify that the bearer of this ticket has a vital loving relationship with Jesus Christ and has made this experience the most important thing in everything she/he is and does

[T.C.] (Taking the ticket back)
You don't happen to have a ticket like that, do you maam

[WOMAN] No, N o, I don't

[T.C.] Then I'm afraid I can't let you in

[WOMAN] Look surely you could sneak me in a side entrance or something - I'd make it worth your while

[T.C.] I'm sorry maam, but there is only one entrance. Perhaps you better try downstairs..

Woman looks shocked, freezes,
ticket collector turns to YOU with hand Out . . . . . .

. . . . . .TICKETS PLEASE !

" A Beautiful Prayer "

I asked God to take away my pain. God said, No.
It is not for me to take away, but for you to give up.

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole. God said, No.
Her spirit was whole; her body was only temporary.

I asked God to grant me patience. God said, No.
Patience is a byproduct of tribulations. It isn't granted; it is learned.

I asked God to give me happiness. God said, No.
I give you blessings. Happiness is up to you.

I asked God to spare me pain. God said, No.
Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me.

I asked God to make my spirit grow. God said, No.
You must grow on your own, but I will prune you to make you fruitful.

I asked for all things that I might enjoy life. God said, No.
I will give you life so that you may enjoy all things.

I asked God to help me love others as much as he loves me.

God said...Ahhh, finally you have the idea.

" The Cracked Pot "

A lone figure set against the evening sky looked more like a panting than reality.
His slow movement, however, confirmed he was real. The stark landscape ached with desolation. The fissured land almost naked.
Cattle limped around with bones protruding, and an occasional spurt of cactus stood in solitude where shrubs and trees once jostled together. In the midst of this landscape stood a sprawling house with a pretty garden.

Harry the water bearer was the silhouetted figure, balancing a pole across his shoulders with two pots suspended from it.
Daily he walked the parched land to a well, to drew water and traced his way back to his master's house. He was responsible for it's water supply, but on one such journey he noticed that one of the earthen pots has a crack.

Harry, who was in the habit of talking to his surroundings, found he was suddenly interrupted by a loud sigh.
"Who did that?" Harry asked. Picking up its cue, the cracked pot let out another sigh. "What is it?" Harry asked.

"I'm sorry," came the reply. "Why, what's the matter?" Harry asked.
"Oh, Sir, I'm useless. I keep leaking so much water. Look at my brother on the other side. He always delivers a full pot. He has reason to be proud."

"Oh, Don't worry, never mind," Harry replied. But the cracked pot could not suppress its feelings of failure.
Several days later, Harry stopped in his tracks and looked at the cracked pot.
" Look down on your side of the pathway. Do you see anything?" "Yes, the cracked pot sighed.
"I see some grass and a few flowers."

"You see," the water bearer said, "I knew you were leaking, so I took advantage of it and planted seeds along your side of the path.
And now you've done me so proud.
You have given life to the dry earth. And look at the grass, the flowers and the butterflies. Now my precious one,
I can even cut some of these pretty flowers for my master's vase.
See, you may be a cracked pot but you have created beauty around you."
The cracked pot looked around and its face said it all :-)

" Hell is Real. "

HELL IS REAL...... .....Hell Is Real...... I went into my classroom, Ready for another year at school.
I didn't want the work, Just wanted to hang and be cool.
I had on new clothes, New sneaks on my feet.
I was there for class on time, Went to the back and took my seat.
Yeah, I'm moving up, I'm already grown. Soon I'll be graduating, And out on my own.
I talked to some of my friends, We were all having fun.
Said some things I shouldn't have said, Did stuff I shouldn't have done.
I knew I was different.
I felt God touch my heart, I knew I should set a standard, But then I'd be set apart.
Walking to the bus, I was not looking for strength.
I heard the car tires screeching, But now it's too late.
I'm standing in this room, And I can see the heavenly gate.
Oh no! I never prayed.I thought I had time to get it straight.
An angel walked to me,He had a book in his hand.
I knew it was the Book of Life,When would this dream end?
I told him my name,And he began to look.
Then he looked at me sadly and said, Your name is not in this book.
Angel, this is a dream,No, I can't be dead!
He closed the book and turned away,He whispered -You cannot proceed ahead.
No...no this can't be real, Angel, you can't turn me away.
Let me talk to God, Maybe he'll let me stay.
He led me to the gate, Jesus came to me.
He did not let me in but said, Beloved what is your need? Jesus, I cried,
please, Don't cast me away from you. Tears ran down his face as he said,
You knew what you needed to do.
Lord, please I'm young, I never thought I would die.
I thought I'd have plenty of time, Death caught me by surprise.
Lord, I went to church, Please Jesus, I believe. He said you would not accept me, My love you would not receive.
Lord, there were too many hypocrites, They weren't being true.
He took a step back and asked, What does that have to do with you?
Lord, my family claimed to be saved, They weren't real.
You know. He said, I died for you, Now I have to go.
I fell to my knees crying to Him, Lord, I planned to be real tomorrow.
I couldn't, make Him understand, I had never-felt such sorrow.
Then it hit me hard, I said, Lord, where will I go?
He looked into my eyes and said, My child you already know.
Please Jesus, I begged, The place is so hot. It seemed to trouble and grieve him,
He whispered, DEPART FROM ME, I KNOW YOU NOT !
Lord, you're supposed to be love, How can you send me to damnation?
He replied, With your mouth you said you loved me,
But each day you rejected my salvation.
With that in an instant, Day turned into night.
I never knew such torture could be, Now too late,
I know the Bible is right.
If I can tell you anything, Hell has no age.
It is a place of torture, Separated from God and full of rage.
You know, I thought it was a joke, But this one thing is true.
If you never accept Jesus Christ,
HELL IS WAITING FOR YOU!

So please, ask Him into your heart. Please show this to everyone you care about.

"He Never Came Dressed That Way Again"

Author Unknown

I saw him in the church building for the first time last Wednesday. He was in his mid 70's with silver hair and a neat brown suit. Many times in the past I had invited him to come. Several friends had talked to him about the Lord and had tried to share the Good News with him. He was a well-respected, honest man with so many characteristics a Christian should have, but he had never put on Christ.

I had asked him a few years ago, "Have you ever been to a church service in your life?" We had just finished a pleasant day of visiting and talking. He hesitated, then with a bitter smile he told me of a childhood experience some sixty years ago.

He was one of many children in a large impoverished family. His parents had struggled to provide food, with little left for housing and clothing. When he was about ten, some neighbors invited him to worship with them. The Bible class had been very exciting. He had never heard such songs and stories before. He had never heard anyone read from the Bible before.

After class was over, the teacher took him aside and said, "Son, please don't come again dressed as you are now. We want to look our best when we come worship the Lord." He stood in his ragged, unpatched overalls, looked at his bare, dirty feet and said, "No ma'am, I won't ever!" And he never did.

There must have been other factors to have hardened him so, but this experience formed a significant part of the bitterness in his heart. I'm sure the Bible teacher meant well, but what if she had studied and accepted the teachings found in the second chapter of James? What if she had put her arms around that dirty, ragged little boy and said, "Son, I'm so glad you are here, and I hope you will come every chance you get to hear more about Jesus!"

I pray that I might ever be open to the tenderness of a child's heart, and that I might never fail to see beyond the appearance and behavior of a child to the eternal possibilities within.

Yes, I saw him in the church house for the first time last Wednesday. As I looked at that immaculately dressed old gentleman lying in his casket, I thought of the little boy of long ago. I could almost hear him saying, "No ma'am, I won't ever!" .... and I wept.

Have you read James 2 lately, maybe you should read it again.
