a third millennium ministry

As the clock progressed from 12.00 midnight to 12.01.01 on 01 01 2000 a new Millennium was ushered in with fireworks in the city of Sydney in the foreground and a new ministry Commenced at Newington, overlooking the Sydney Olympic Park at Homebush Bay, in the foreground with the city fireworks in the distant backdrop
the internet based Newington Fellowship commenced from an apartment overlooking Olympic Park, with the prayer of Pastor Graham, to provide a ministry in Newington in the absence of an available community facility in Newington.
The Background
In the lead up to Christmas 1999 a request was made to hold Carols in Cumberlain Square, Newington Village. Despite support from the body corporate, the request was denied by the authorities. The community Hall was behind the fence of the Olympic Village and not available until sometime in 2001.
However an appartment owner released a room to be used as a prayer room for Pastor during the first few months of 2000.
Pastor Graham was at the appartment as Newington Village entered the Year 2000. >a new ministry was commenced with prayer and celebration, at Newington. a New Millennium Message was recorded on the Ministryline 1902 260 511, with the city fireworks in the background,
The aim of Newington Fellowship is firstly to promote a sence of community in the new suburb of Newington.
The second object is to enable our friends on the internet and callers to the ministryline, during 2000 - 2001 to share in local ministry from the Prayer Room.
If you are praying for ministry during the Games at the Olympic Park at Homebush Bay, but you are the other end of the earth, literally!
Newington Christian Ministries is the ministry you have been waiting for.
The story so far ...:
As the world crossed over to the year 2000, using emails in partnership with the 2000 Years of Amazing Grace Project,
The Easter 1999 MinistryLine Project
The 1996 More Than Gold (Auburn - Atlanta) Project, demonstrated that we can use technology to establish ministry multiplication in sister churches, sister ministries and sister cities!
In 2000 it was possible to email Newington Christian Fellowship and request emails of prayers and messages
from Newington and Homebush Bay in September
2000, when the world's eyes were on our Olympic Park.

The network of representative perimeter churches
is one of our projects. On Sunday 21st May 2000, Pastor Graham preached in Auburn Town Centre in the morning then at night attended services in Burwood, Ryde and Parramatta, before returning to Auburn, thus circling Homebush Bay in worship and prayer, four months and on day before the September Games He then drove to Homebush Bay to pray in the Olympic Park There are many nations and needy people who need our prayers at this time.
Pastor Graham Guy,
Pastor of the Homebush Bay Christian Fellowship
running the seven year marathon of ministry ENDURING FAITH PROGRAMME
on Monday 22nd May 2000,
4 months to the opening night of the greatest event at Homebush Bay
prayed on one of the highest points in Homebush Bay, dedicating it to the glory of God
and
dedicated it to the Glory of God
prayed for the nations
for the good news to be preached to the poor
the release of the captives
healing of the broken hearted
for Christian suffering persecution
for Fiji
for the African nations, China.
and the suburbs overlooking Homebush Bay.
He prayed:
May the Lord bring revival to the nations from this place.
Although there are no lights on Mount Hebron (the Christian name given tonight by pastor)
the Lord's witness in the heavens, the full moon,
shone brightly as if there were streetlights.
the path up the otherwise dark hillside was clear as is the peak, from where pastor
prayed and proclaimed the word of the Lord.
Pastor Graham then proceeded to pray outside Stadium Australia
upholding the name of the Lord Jesus Christ
before the nations
He was led to pray for:
the love of God to cast out fear
and the peace of Christ to rule our hearts

bringing light and life.
Amen
Late 2001 the Newington Community Centre was finally handed over to Auburn Council after months of delays and it became available for community use.
Now Newington Christian could be more than a cyberspace ministry but has a place to meet in Newington Village
Unfortunately NCF was unsucessful in the allocation of the NCC on Sunday mornings
after the first few Sundays until January 2002 and is limited to Sunday nights when the residents are asking for services on Sunday mornings.
Christmas 2001
in the Newington Community Centre
Christmas Eve 7.30pm
Christmas Day 7.00am
During 2002
NCF was able to link with Churhes and ministries in Salt Lake City during the winter Olympics and Manchester during the Commonwealth Games.
