~HOW TO STUDY YOUR BIBLE~

Think about what you think the Scripture is saying:

Reread the whole Chapter to determine:

        Who is the speaker ?

Who is he talking to ?

What is he trying to teach them ?

This gives me a clear picture in my mind of what was happening at the time Jesus was speaking.

If you don't understand a word, Look it up in the Dictionary.

(I use Vine's Complete Expository Dictionary & sometimes a cheap $1.00 one I purchased at the Dollar Store.)

Check the same scripture out in different Bible version's but  running references is the best way.

They will take you to different verses that go along with this same verse.

Running References

Most Bible's have Scriptures written down in the middle of the Bible,

These are called references.

For instance, the below Scripture

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

In my Bible there is a small a: in front of Come, this will take you to:

John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

John 6:36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.

John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Can you see how the reference clears the above scripture.

This way of Bible study Has caused me to understand the Bible much better.

Always pray to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal what he wants to, into your mind.

He loves us & has sent us his very own Word to help us get to know him.

That is what Jesus desires for us to do :

To fellowship with Him.
