VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL IN
THE VILLAGE

COME TO THE RIVERS OF TIME+++
It seemed as if the time had come for all of GOD'S
little stars to now stop dancing; for, here was coming HIS
all - glorious Morning Star to take charge and bring HIS
new day. The Morning Star, escort angels, given this power by GOD, THE
FATHER, were standing at the very precipice of the universe, now lifting
their arms. Then, said THE FATHER, " rise "; then in all its beauty - its
non-pariel beauty - this new day sparkled on the far-off horizons. A new
sun shone, the mists filtered away from the shadows. As if on spiritual
cue, The Morning Star and angels drifted away, going back to their places.
No day had ever been like this one before, neither would
there ever come another, just like this one was. HIS MIGHTY HANDS then
reached down into a golden bucket that had colors of every hue. HE
scattered the colors to the winds blowing freely, as if to say, "PAINT
YE THIS NEW DAY!"

This was to be a very important day for me; for later, at
evening, our little ones of Arlanza Baptist Church - over in the little
village - would be starting Vacation Bible School. They are my main little
friends, you see. They had given me an invitation to come and tell of my
own Vacation Bible School. Another time, another place.
I was so happy to go, because just like one of OUR HEAVENLY FATHER'S
new days, these, our little ones, are new. Fresh smiling faces. This was
the evening of August 10, 1998. I spoke to them about the times of my own
Vacation Bible School: coming on a horse drawn wagon, or afoot, or even
riding horseback. How JESUS came and sat by me on that little wooden
bench, underneath an old-time big top, a huge tent like those used in the
circus. Then, when my head was bowed, I saw an imprint in the ground of
a long-ago wagon wheel, wheel it cut into the earth and made a rut. Could
this have been left by my Grandfather who I had missed so much? He drove
his wagon and team through here many times, before he went home to be with
THE LORD. I was just thinking. All the more, heavy spirituality, was right
there. HE was in the midst of our old-time camp meeting. As our youth sat
listening in the pews, I told them of how I felt GOD, THE FATHER, had wrapped
me in a new kind of warmth - a kind that I knew not before...and then without
even knowing, I walked to the front of the congregation when they sang
The Hymn of Invitation. Then...here was Pastor J.J. Raney with his arms
around me. I was crying and I know from every sense that I have, that I
was not standing there alone.
The next day, which would fall on a Sunday, was to be
the final day of CAUIGU (KIOWA American Indians) meeting for a week Adult
Association Gathering (Camp Meeting) and, for us, our Vacation Bible School.
The morning services were concluded at noon. Guests, visitors, teachers,
students had all come to the end. They were to break camp the next day.
There were very many camps surrounding the church; at the noon meal, we
had a veritable feast (five steers)
of big hind quarter cuts of beef, big chunk roasts, rump
roasts and ribs of seemingly no end that were brought to the many camps
where the women further prepared all of this which had been in the pits
of slow turning pivot sticks and coals. After our feast, we all went to
Odle Paugh Springs, today used as baptismal waters. This spring had been
discovered by CAUIGU about 1500 A.D. They are still running today, and
just as cold and beautiful. Pastor J.J. Raney stepped into the cold waters
and beckoned for me to step in there with him. After learned intonements
from GOD'S WORD, he submerged me in those cold running waters. At times
in my life, when overcome by fear (The Korean War) and sin (an old dirty
rag not even fit to wipe a floor, so dirty had I become) and long sieges
of sickness and disease, this is where I most would like to be.
And I was granted the privilege sometimes later. This
is the very spot where GOD, THE FATHER, grasped my heart and placed it
in the hands of OUR SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. My maternal Grandmother, paarents,
over one hundred witnesses and JESUS were on the banks of this stream that
is in a tree shroud. It will be there forever I told my little friends.
I told them also, JESUS is your friend, too. HE will help you. You will
never be alone. Pray when you rise in the morning. Pray at mealtime; pray
at bedtime. Tell you Mother and tell your Father, "I Love You" Tell them
often.
