I am of THE
Today,
called KIOWA American Indians. I am also known as:
All of that aside, my real and first name is the main one that counts; All others being pale, alongside. The word describes "Pulled from the Water" in the KIOWA language. The tribal custom of giving names this way is centuries old, it is on the correct path of The HOLY Spirit and yields to it's commands. My beloved Grandmother who had it stored away, could not possibly have known, that twenty years or so down these corridors of time, I would be in a combat situation, and, of higher coincidence, almost drowned in The Korean War, and was myself, "Pulled from the Water."
This absolutely beautiful lady,
,
was my Paternal Grandmother, My Maternal Grandmother
served
as mid-wife at my birth. What more could one ask than to have each Grandmother
taking part in your own life start? Also present was the fine old
gentleman of rock-hard courage,
.
He had already come through One Hundred Two Winters and was the very last
High Priest of The Sun Dance. Most important: He attested to my birth with
prayer. He went home in 1933.
How I came to be given the name
was not at all unusual in our culture. Some of the Old Cave "Pictures"
found, indicate that CAUIGU
have been warriors nigh ten thousand years.
The name was passed to me and n the background information of the 1870's,
,
my Paternal Great Grandfather, lends credence by an exploit. All of our
reviewing, from his time to mine, shows no other males born who experienced
warfare. My 25TH Infantry Division participation in 1951-1952, during The
Korean War is a matter of military record. CHAL A N A U N (His name
is descriptive of a goose honking in flight) and his group of warriors
had a skirmish with Texas Rangers. The little town of Seymour, Texas, along
The Brazos River, is today, closeby. He was the son-in-law of
,
renowned principal War Chief of The KIOWA Nation. This story is not about
him, but is brought to the fore for historical tracing and accuracy of
honorable bloodlines. He was also a member
of The KO-EET-SENKO,
the highest military order that KIOWAS had.
Stay in front of the front in any and all battles, until killed, or CAUIGU
were successful that day. Old Buffalo Hide Calendars (Knife-Etched) say
born 1799 or 1800, while the tribe was encamped along The Smoky Hill River.
