Violence in a Childs Heart
With the latest inexplicable school shooting in Springfield, Oregon, we can only stand in dazed bewilderment at what is happening to our children.  The survivors, family and community of Jonesboro, Arkansas have barely begun to piece their lives back together when this tragedy happens again, no doubt opening fresh wounds in that small town's heart. Kip Kinkel, a 15 year old high school student, for reasons known only to himself and the Lord, chose to walk into a crowded cafeteria filled with students and open fire on kids who were most likely strangers to him.  What could have happened if a few daring young men hadn't taken a chance and threw him to the ground while he was reloading, is something, praise the Lord, we don't have to deal with, as well.
And now to find out that he also apparently murdered his parents at home where police found enough bombs and explosive devises to do extensive damage to the neighborhood. . .
One more young student lost his fight for life today.  His family and loved ones now have even deeper grief to live with.  And like Jonesboro and Paducah and several others, we still don't know *why*.
I know my hope is in the Lord, but I'm beginning to think that my fear is in the world.  I cannot begin to fathom what those parents are going through.
And can we count on our government to change the tide of violence that has beset our public school system.  No, I don't believe we can.  And I don't expect it to remain solely a problem with public schools.  I fear we will find that soon if will begin happening in private and religious schools, as well.

What can we as a people do to try and put a stop to this insanity?
"If. . .  My people who are called by My name humble themselves and
pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will
hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
2 Chronicles 7:14.
Let us as one people get on our knees before a mighty and righteous God and pray for His grace, mercy and lovingkindness. Let's spearhead a day of prayer for the healing of our nation and the protection of our children.  Please join with me and others in prayer. Contact your local Christian radio stations, churches, ministries, friends, family, anyone you can think of for support.  This is a grassroots movement.  I want no recognition for suggesting it. The honor is not mine - it is the Lord's.  I believe He wants us to turn to Him, yet again, in humble submission to His will.

Thank you for agreeing to be a part of this Prayer for Our
Children.   While this is not a day that has been planned out and isn't
being led by anyone other than the Holy Spirit, please read the
following and consider these words.

A Day of Prayer for Our Children

Read Isaiah 22.  What was a prophecy for Jerusalem may be a warning to America.
Verse 2 - Your slain were not slain with the sword, nor did
they die in battle.
Our slain are our children, those whose lives were taken by random acts of
inexplicable violence as in Springfield and
other towns, and perhaps even those whose very lives are denied them
every day in this country.  Many of the slain may walk among us (gangs);
their spirits dead, their souls cold, willing, anxious even, to prove
their emptiness by needlessly killing strangers.
Verses 10 and 11,
Then you counted the houses of Jerusalem, and you tore down houses to
fortify the wall.  And you made a reservoir between the two walls for
the waters of the old pool.  But you did not depend on Him who made it,
nor did you take in consideration Him who planned it long ago.
This speaks volumes about our government, who is willing to tear down the
homes (family unit) of its people to protect itself and which has cast
out every mention of God, while doing lip service to His people.  But it
also speaks to us, for even His children have neglected to honor the One
who blessed us with this land.

But hold onto the promise of:
If. . .  My people who are called by My
name humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their
wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and
will heal their land.  2 Chronicles 7:14.

Keep these things in mind as you pray:

Repentance - individually and collectively
A burning desire to return to God individually
A strengthening of your heart by the Holy Spirit
A desire to follow His word, His will and His way
A nationwide revival in the hearts of His people
The restoration of our government to follow the Lord's leading
God's hand on our land, His revival in our hearts and His protection
upon our children.

We cannot shine the light of Jesus Christ from the mountain top if we do
not light His candle in our homes and communities.  We must be a witness
of Christ in order for others to see His glory.  Otherwise all that we
do is wasted - filthy rags.  Determine in your own heart, whether you're
a child, teenager, adult, parent, or grandparent that you will begin
today, this very moment, to be an example of God's grace and mercy for
all to see.  And do not allow the fire within you to be quenched but to
be continually renewed.  - Pray without ceasing.

May the power of the Holy Spirit, the grace of Jesus Christ and the
lovingkindness of the Father be on each and every one of you as you join
in lifting up your voices for the sake of our nation, our future, our
children.  Amen
