Lots of people believe in luck. They believe when someone receives a gift, prize or some good deal, luck plays a major role. There are others who believe luck happens only when preparation meets oppertunity. In other words, something happens solely and simply because someone was prepared and ready when favorable circumstances presented themselves. No matter which side ot the debate one agrees with, it can be said that Being Ready Is Always Best. Take for example, this man, Mr. Bliss, who was one of the most famous song writers and hymnal writers of his day. At the age of 38 he had just completed a reminiscent trip to his boyhood town in Pennsylvania. Upon the return trip home to Chicago, the train on which he was riding came off the tracks while crossing a bridge near Ashtabula, Ohio. Sixty feet below in a ravine the train lay burning. Mr. Bliss himself was able to escape through an open window. Unharmed and horrified to learn that Mrs. Bliss was still in the fiery wreckage, he returned to get her out, sadly, both perished.
In the trunk containing
his belongings was found the word of one of the song he had written. As
can be expected, after word of his death and the subsequent singing of
his last song, great emotion and reflection came upon all. The song found
in the rubble of the wreck was a bold proclamation from Mr. Bliss' heart,
evidencing that he was "Always Ready" to meet his "REDEEMER."
