Take, for example, an expression of prayer spoken one night in 1902. In a prayer meeting, an elderly lady was heard praying, "It doesn't matter what you do with us, LORD, just have your own way with our lives....." It's safe to assume this lady did not know and perhaps never found out that her words were herd by one of the most dedicated and exciting Christians of her day, Miss Adelaide Pollard. This servant of the LORD had been experiencing failure in trying to raise funds to make a missionary journey to Africa. She was distressed and discouraged. Perhaps this is why she went to the prayer meeting in the first place.
Later that evening she pondered the meaning of the passage in Jeremiah that speaks of GOD as the potter and man is the clay. The implication is clear as stated, the potter fashions vessels of clay..." As it seemed good to the potter to make it..." Before sleep came to her eyes, Miss Pollard, energized and inspired by what she had heard the elderly woman pray and what Jeremiah had written completed all the stanzas of the much beloved hymn:
Is someone looking to you for inspiration? If the are, you may not be aware of it. Don't we all hope to inspire others to do good?
