**TWINS** (due 12-10-2001) Cookie had her kids on her own ... both good sized ... She has a huge udder this year ...

****QUADS**** (due 12-10-2001) Gratefully my neighbor, Raul, was here to help ... after the first one, too much time was going by, & the fluid showing, was brown, so I checked & found one, not presented right (head first, hoofs/legs folded, back under... I pulled it & helped with the 3rd (presented properly) to deliver... The 4th (the doe) birthed pretty much on her own:) (afterbirth within a couple hours after) All seem healthy & mom doing fine:-) She has her work cut out for her!:)) ... good sized udder & very rich colostrum .....
***TRIPLETS*** (due 12-5 to 12-10) Found Speckles with considerable amount of discharge, obviously, had been in labor, but had stopped for some reason ... Going in I found about the same as with Rose's 2nd one, yesterday ... head first, legs back ... removed it ... checked for the next one & felt TWO heads(!) (not expected, Speckles no way looked as though she was carrying 3) ... They were both trying to birth at the same time ... I pushed one back, then prayed I had the right hoofs with the right baby, and pulled ... then the 3rd :-) ... all are doing well & so is mama ... she has a very nice bag, yet hopefuly enough for triplets.....
**TWINS** (due 12-10-2001) Starr did very well, basically on her own ... textbook type delivery ... she has a great bag & plenty of colostrum ... 2 healthy does, 1 white & 1 fawn color (Starr is black-white) .....  
****TRIPLETS*** (due 12-??) Snow (the pro she is) had her triplets all on her own!!:-) All healthy & mama doing great ... nice bag & colostrum .....
**TWINS** (due 12-?) Found Myria with one of her kids, 2 hoofs hanging out, then verified that the head was in proper positon (which it was) & pulled ... 'Immediately' after, the second doe literally plopped out:-)) ... first one is black & white..the second one is solid black (not one white hair, as is mom) on mahogany (she has a very wavy thick coat, like grandma Daizee had @ birth:) ... Mom & kids doing very well ... Myria has a very nice shaped udder & plenty of colostrum..... 12-14-2001 .. I am having to help the one doe to nurse ... she seems to have an internal problem, because she has difficulty nursing with out choking ... she also has a 'very' narrow chest ... not good!

***TRIPLETS*** (due 12-?) I have been waiting on Cupcake 'all' day ... she has shown typical signs, such as, off to herself in the shelter, not eating, & some prep. contractions ... checked her about 5:30 PM, but she had a long way to go ... so I wait:-) ..... About 8:30 Raul came by to help me check to see what was going on, with Cupcake ... It turned out to be perfect timing ... she was in hard labor ... first one was breech, the other 2 were properly presented ... the breech was why she was taking so long ... its like the doe knows she has a problem ... all 3 are pretty good sized & doing fine ... so is mama ... The kids are definitely Sunny's (Honey's buck, Sundance) ... 2 look just like him, the third like mama ... Cupcake's udder leaves much to be desired, but hopefully she will have no problem, having 3 dependents:-) *NOTE...Cupcake LOST her triplets, last year & had a kid grafted on her... 3-3-02... It wound up that Cupcake is raising 3 kids on one teat... One side of her udder gave up (so to speak) not long after delivery... even with that, one of her bucklings was 48lbs as of yesterday!! ... Needless to say I was grateful that I was able to sell him at this point (to give the other 2 a better chance)
**TWINS** (due 12-?) Nicole had 2 'big' kids, especially for her small stature ... both have the rich red heads of the Boer breed, that reaches to the middle of their backs ... the full front end is red & the rear is all white ... It will be quite a sight when, as they grow & nurse, since Nicole looks so different, being basically black:-).....
*1 Doeling* (due 12-?) Tammi was very talkative to let me know she was close to kidding ... after an hour or so she had her doeling ... both are fine ... afterbirth shortly after ... Tammi has never had just one kid.. Last year she had triplets..... 12-14-01 ... I am very concerned about Tammi's doe ... she just has no effort to nurse & its difficult to get her to take a bottle either ... to look at her, she looks so healthy physically, except for standing in a 'very' hunched over position, 99% of the time ... you can tell Tammi is concerned about it ... I have to milk her out some, each day ... 12-16 ... Success!!!! Tammi's doeling is finally nursing on her own:-))   |
