Women Seeking God ~ Quiet Time Tips

~Quiet Time Tips~

If anyone needs quiet time tips, it's me! I am a wife and a mother of 4 children, so I find it difficult to fit a quiet time in. I also know that when I don't have a quiet time with God, my day is more stressful. God is constantly reminding me that if I have time for everything else, I should make some time for him. How else are we going to get to know God if we don't spend time with Him? After all how do we get to know our family, children and friends? We do this by spending time with them. Anyways, here are a few tips you may find helpful:

1. Have a quiet time to get closer to God and to get to know His will for your life.
So many times we think that God will find favor with us or that he will love us "more" if we pray and read the bible. The truth is that God will never love you any "more" or any "less" than he does right now, no matter what you do. Sure, God is pleased when we spend time with him, he desires for us to get closer to Him every day, but he loves us the same no matter what.

2. Start out in "baby steps" on having your quiet time.
A lot of people don't realize that having a quiet time is a habit. Starting out with 5 minutes a day can be very effective in building and even having longer quiet times.

3. Have your quiet time when you can fit it in.
Some people like to have their quiet times first thing in the morning. The reason I prefer this is because it's at the beginnning of the day and you can draw your strength from God and it really makes the day less stressful. I've also had to fit quiet time in during the middle of the day when I may have a few moments. Night is also fine too, if that's what you prefer. Whatever is easiest for you is what you should do. There are no rules for spending time with God....he's up 24 X 7 anyway!

4.If you find it difficult to fit in because of being very busy,
pray and ask God to remind you to spend time with Him.
This may sound silly to some, but it works! I've tried this and believe me,
God will speak to your heart to take some time for him.

~Stacey's Tips~

Get a prayer journal and divide up your prayer list so it's not so overwhelming! I used to give up on praying because I couldn't pray for EVERYTHING! Now, my week is like this:

MON. - My husband, daughter, and future children
TUES. - Immediate family (mom, dad, sisters)
WED. - Extended family (grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.)
THURS. - Friends
FRI. - President, government, schools, wordly sin (homosexuality, abortion, racists, cults, abuse),also, missionaries, smokers, ill (cancer, etc.)
SAT. - my church family, ministries, leaders
SUN. - all thanksgiving all day!!

This has really helped me - REALLY!! Prayer Requests, names, etc. are all written in black. Anytime I have an answer/praise I write it in blue. It's encouraging!
