From A Mother’s Heart

To My Precious Child:

How great an impact you’d have on me

I would never believe

Until your presence filled this home

And your love I did receive.

We cuddled each and every night

In our soft, warm blanket nest.

When I’d wake and touch your face

I knew that I’d been blessed.

There are no words that can express

How much you’ve been my treasure.

Embracing you as you nursed

Has been my greatest pleasure.

You were nurtured heart and soul

From my soft warm breast.

Quiet moments throughout the night

Together we’d invest.

Having patience day and night

Is not an easy test,

But my tiredness was soon forgotten

When you would sleep upon my chest.

Each time you cried for my touch

I quickly would respond.

I never held back any love

That’s why we share this bond.

No regrets does this mom have

For giving you comfort and care.

Kisses, hugs, and lots of praise

These things I did not spare.

Many nights I would awake

By the light of the shining moon.

My heart would cry and struggle knowing

Our time would pass too soon.

This mother knew that her child

Would grow up just too fast

And in the twinkling of an eye

Her baby’s days have quickly passed.

In this role of motherhood

My heart will forever rejoice

Because spending my days loving you

Has been my greatest choice!
