I wrote the following poem when my daughter, Kaylie, was 10 months old. She wants to be a big kid, like her older brother and sister. She wants to play with them and be off on her own, but after a few minutes of that, she realizes that she still wants her mommy. I love it when she waddles back over to me and climbs into my lap to nurse.

"Just A Dose Of Mommy"

Just a dose of mommy
Then I'll be on my way.
Just one more dose of mommy
So I can get down and play.

I feel like I'm a big girl
Since I can walk all on my own
Now that I can waddle about
I feel like I'm all grown.

All the fun toys to play with
Are scattered along the floor.
I know you want to hold me, Mom,
But I just want to explore.

Sometimes I do get cranky
When I've been playing for so long
Then I toddle on to Mommy
Where nothing can go wrong.

I'll enjoy a little nursing
And play with my mommy's hair like this.
The only thing I need now, Mommy,
Is on my cheek a kiss.

Just a dose of mommy
Then I'll be on my way.
Just one more dose of mommy
So I can get down and play!
