My child, do you know that I pray
Daily to the Lord?
I pray that in your life
His Spirit will be freely poured.
I pray you will be slow to anger
And have a gracious heart.
I pray that from God's holy presence
You will never want to part.
I pray that you will show
Unconditional love to your fellow man.
I pray that you will be forgiving
As only a Christian can.
I pray for you courage
To be bold and to be strong.
I pray that you will be humble enough
To admit when you’ve done wrong.
I pray that you will be content
With your God-given lot.
I pray that no envy or bitterness
In your heart will ever be caught.
I pray for a dedicated spirit
To follow God’s desires
So that you will not become trapped
When Satan tempts you with his fires.
I pray that with proper discernment
You will avoid God’s judgement and wrath
By obeying His commands
And following the heavenly path.
I pray that you will take on
The enemy without fear.
I pray you will remember
God's angels are always near.
I pray for you a faithful spouse
And a marriage that is blessed.
I pray that when temptation comes
That you will pass the test.
I pray that you will honor me
With grandchildren before I’m old.
The Lord believes that little children
Are more precious than silver and gold.
My child, you are still so young
But soon I hope to see
That you follow my example and announce
That a Christian is what you want to be.
One day I hope to witness
You walk forward to our pastor
And there in front of God’s church
You proclaim that Jesus is your Lord and Master!
My heart will shout with joy
And I will continually sing
“Praise you, my Dear Father!
You are my child’s Glorious King!”
