For those that are seeking more information regarding specific aspects or types of adoption, the following families have agreed to be resources. Browse through the different topics and then click on a name to send an e-mail message to that particular family. BIRTH MOTHERS

Di was single and placed a daughter for adoption in 1972 when adoptions were traditionally closed. Di continues to affirm her decision and holds her daughter up in prayer although they have never had contact. Di married in 1974 and she and her husband now have two grown sons. She has ministered in a Crisis Pregnancy Center for 13 years and currently works with churches to promote adoption, sexual purity and respect for human life.

Kristen made an adoption choice for her daughter. She used an attorney for a private open adoption and will be happy to share her experience with you.


ADULT ADOPTEES

Jody is an adult adoptee who is very active in Christian support groups for other adult adoptees and those involved in the adoption triad. She would love to share her feelings on adoption with you. Jodee is the editor of Adoption Blessings Journal, a free Christian 20 page outreach journal sharing testimonies, articles, poems and book reviews by adoptees, birth parents and adoptive parents. She has past issues available for a small postage fee, just e-mail her your desire to obtain a copy.

Rebecca was adopted as an infant through a private agency and would love to share her experiences growing up as an adopted child.


ADOPTION AND THE MINISTRY

Jim and Kim have adopted special needs children. Jim is a full-time children's pastor at their church.

SuDawn has written a book about her family's adoption experiences. She has experience in talking to others about their adoptions hopes and frustrations and is available to speak to organizations and churches about the book.


SINGLE PARENT ADOPTION

Candice is a single mother of two internationally adopted children and one domestically adopted child. She is currently waiting for her 4th child to join the family. She would love to talk to other single women interested in adopting.

John is a single father of a son adopted from Vietnam. For many years he believed God wanted him to adopt a child. God opened the doors and worked out all the details.


DOMESTIC

Private

Shannon was chosen by a birthmother to adopt her son Jacob as well as his two older siblings.

Ron and Rachael were chosen by birthmothers for two of their children. They have adopted many children with special needs.


Agency

Perry and Brenda have semi-open adoptions through a Christian agency. They have two sons whom they adopted at birth.

Sonja was chosen from her profile to adopt her daughter Katrina. She has an open relationship with Katrina's birthmother.

Marlin and Shelli have used an agency to adopt and would love to share about their experience.


Advertising

Kelly and Terrie found their son Christopher's birthmother by placing ads in periodicals.


Foster/Adopt

Shannon adopted a daughter that she fostered from birth while waiting for termination of parental rights.

Mark and Dorothy foster/adopted the younger sibling of their son from out of state.

Kelly and Terrie have fostered and subsequently adopted their two oldest children.


Open Adoption

Mark and Dorothy have four biological children, then adopted a son from out-of state (semi-open) along with his bio sibling as well as daughter locally (fully open). They have an incredible appreciation for birthmoms and greatly desire them to be in adoptions that meet their own needs. They would love to discuss the benefits of open adoption.

Kelly and Terrie have an open adoption with the birthmother of one of their children.

Shannon has open adoptions with two of her children's birthparents, with a son's birthfather and a daughter's birthmother.

Jeff and Krisanne recently opened a formerly closed adoption and now communicate openly with their 7-year-old's birthmother.


INTERNATIONAL

Ed and Carol adopted a 10-month-old son from Romania in August 1999, and have also adopted twin grils from Romania in the summer of 2002.

Leo and Julie have adopted several children from Russia and Romania.

Jeff and Krisanne adopted their son Levi from Guatemala.

Doug and Kathy have adopted two girls as toddlers from Russia and would love to share their experiences with you.

Michael and Laurie have two boys adopted as infants from Vietnam as well as a son adopted as an adult from Uganda.

Marlin and Shelli have adopted children from Thailand and Vietnam and Haiti.

John and SuDawn have adopted children from the Philippines and Korea.


Families With Birth and Adopted Children

Jeff and Krisanne have both adopted and birth children in their family and would love to share with you what that is like for them.

Michael and Laurie have twin birth daughters as well as two boys that they adopted as infants from Vietnam and an one son adopted as an adult from Uganda.


SPECIAL NEEDS

Leo and Julie have adopted 3 children with limb deformities, children diagnosed with ADHD, OCD, and Tourettes Syndrome as well as other special needs.

Sonja has adopted two biracial (caucasian/African-American) girls at 11 weeks of age and at birth.

Ron and Rachael have adopted 7 children requiring total care, 4 remain at home. They have fostered over 200 children since 1972 with various special needs.

Marlin and Shelli have adopted two with special needs including cleft lip, cleft palate, lung disease, heart murmur and CP.

Kelly and Terrie have adopted children with special needs including a son with birth defects and speech disorder.


Atachment Disorder

Jess and Deb have two children with attachment disorder. Deb is involved in an on-line support group for parents of children with attachment problems.

Kelly and Terrie have adopted older children from foster care with attachment issues.


Fetal Alcohol Syndrome

Jim and Kim have adopted two half-siblings with FAS and are willing to discuss the special problems associated with this syndrome.

Beth has a daughter with FAS that she adopted and is willing to discuss her experiences. Beth is involved in an e-mail support group that she has found very helpful and she would also be willing to discuss Christian families dealing with special needs children and divorce.


Abused Children

Kelly and Terrie have adopted children who have been abused in former homes.


Disrupted Adoptions

Jess and Deb have a son that they are in the process of adopting that was disrupted from a sibling adoption. He also suffers from attachment disorder.

Cerebral Palsy

Leo and Julie have adopted a daughter with mild CP.

John and SuDawn have a 5 year old adopted son with severe CP.


Drug-Affected

Jim and Cheryl adopted a premature baby, he is now almost 18 years old, who was born addicted to cocaine.

Gary and Tami have adopted three children, two of which were addicted to drugs and/or alcohol prior to birth. All three of their adoptions were open, and all three children are doing well.

Ron and Rachael have adopted two daughters that were addicted to drugs at birth.

Shannon has two children that were drug-affected at birth.


ADHD

Kelly and Terrie have a son with ADHD and other special needs.

Leo and Julie have an adopted child with ADHD as well as children with other special needs.

Shannon has children with ADHD and would be a great resource to anyone searching for information.


Older Children

Kelly and Terrie adopted their two oldest children from foster care when they were older.

Michael and Laurie adopted their son James when he was 25! James is from Uganda where Laurie is also part of a mission called Village2Village.


Older Parents

Marlin and Shelli have adopted 4 children and are hoping to add another soon all while in their "middle years".

Ron and Rachael are both in their 70's and have adopted many children with special needs and fostered over 200 children over the years.


TWINS

Michael and Laurie adopted two infant boys born on the same day in different provinces of Vietnam, "virtual twins!" The boys are now almost 10 years old. They are also the parents of 17 year-old twin girls born to them.

Ed and Carol adopted twin grils from Romania in the summer of 2002.


LARGE FAMILIES

John and SuDawn have one bio son and have adopted 13 children, most with special needs.

Ron and Tanya have 29 children, 19 still at home and have adopted domestically, by foster/adopt, and internationally from Liberia.


TRANSRACIAL

Kevin and Annette have an adopted African-American daughter.

Jim and Cheryl have an adopted biracial son who is almost 18 and is getting ready for college! They also have an Hispanic (but looks biracial) daughter age 15, and a birth daughter age 12.

Gary and Tami have adopted three children, two of which are transracial. They would be happy to share their experiences with you.

Jeff and Krisanne have a biracial AA/caucasian daughter whom they adopted domestically shortly after she was born. In addition they have a Hispanic son they adopted internationally as an infant, and more recently they have adopted a full African-American daughter at birth. Jeff and Krisanne also lead a support group for mixed racial families in their area and would love to help anyone get a support group started. (For more information see our adoption links page).

Shannon is caucasian and has adopted children who are biracial African-American, as well as Hispanic.

Marlin and Shelli are caucasian and have adopted children from Southeast Asia as well as AA domestically. They have also adopted two girls from Haiti.

Jim and Candy have adopted two Asian children born in Korea, a hispanic child adopted from Honduras, and an African American child they adopted domestically.

John and SuDawn are caucasian and have adopted children who are Filipino/Caucasian, Korean, African American/Caucasian, East Indian/Caucasian, full AA, and African American/Vietnamese.

Ron and Tanya have adopted children from Liberia as well as domestically and are very open to sharing their experiences with you.
