The first rebellion in the universe

Contest of wills.

The Triune God, the Creator of the entire universe is a God of purpose. There is no trace of uncertainty in whatever He's doing, in whatever He is planning or in whatever He desires. He is. This means, everything related to His person is absolute and perfect.

Upon the creation of the universe with the hosts of angels He appointed one of them, called Lucipher (Daystar) for the purpose to lead the rest of creation in the praise and worship of God. Daystar was the highest creature of all. He was the most excellent object of creation both in his appearence and in his high position as the top archangel. Although we can't read it in black'n'white we are certain that in this time Lucipher was given the the Earth as the sphere of his ruling. (Luke 4:5-6) Witness Lee in the footnote to verse six in the Recovery Version of the New Testament says:

61 This must have occurred in the preadamic age. The devil's word here indicates that when God anointed the archangel to be the head of the preadamic age (Ezek. 28:13-14), the authority and glory of the kingdom of the earth must have been given to him. The Lord's word in John 12:31 confirms this. After he rebelled against God and became God's enemy, Satan, he was judged by God (Isa. 14:12-15), but the full execution of God's judgment upon him will not be completed until the end of the millennium (Rev. 20:7-10). Hence, until that time he has authority over the kingdoms of the earth. He tempted the Lord Jesus by offering this authority and its glory to Him. His evil offer was rejected by God's Christ, but it will be accepted by the Antichrist, the man of lawlessness (2 Thes. 2:3-4), at the end of this age (Rev. 13:4) for the executing of Satan's evil strategy against God. Only by Christ, who lives in us, can we reject the evil tempter.(1)

Why did Lucipher rebell? What was the essence of the rebellion? Before this event there was only one will in the universe - the perfect will of God - the Creator. Now lets consider following verses from Isiah 14:12-15:

12 How you have fallen from heaven, O Daystar, son of the dawn! How you have been hewn down to earth, You who made nations fall prostrate! 13 But you, you said in your heart: I will ascend to heaven; Above the stars of God I will exalt my throne. And I will sit upon the mount of assembly In the uttermost parts of the north. 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High. 15 But you will be brought down to Sheol, To the uttermost parts of the pit.(2)

Let's pay closer attention to verses 13 and 14. Here we have record of Lucipher's speaking in his heart: I WILL - five times! After seeing his beauty and power he's become proud and immediately desired to be higher than God, his Creator. Having been granted the authority and power over the creation he still wanted something more - but there was nothing more for him - He could not become God. Instead he produced the counterfeit will to God's will which brought chaos, sin and death to the entire universe. The one third of angels joined him in the act of rebellion becoming the evil spirits and the creatures under his ruling have become one with him in his insurrection. God could not tolerate such a situation. He judged the earth by sending the flood and letting the entire Earth be covered with darkness. The creatures judged in this way became the demons - disembodied spirits whose dwelling place is in the water.

This is the moment, the situation we are being introduced to in the first two verses of the Bible. Genesis 1:1-2 says:

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 But the earth became waste and emptiness, and darkness was on the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was brooding upon the surface of the waters.

Between verse one and two there is a period of time, a gap, we don't know how long, when the rebellion of Satan occured. The second verse of the Bible shows the situation before God's re-creation of the earth and further creation leading ultimately to the creation of a man - a creature through which God will solve all the problems in the universe including the defeat of His enemy - Satan.

Brief summary.

In few sentences, very generally, we can establish several crucial points related to God and Satan and the rebellion that occured at the dawn of the universe...

God:
- created the universe with millions of items for a certain purpose
- appointed Lucipher, the highest of all angels as a Leader of the Creation

Lucipher:
- the most powerful and beautiful of all creatures - next after God
- looking at himself, became proud and thirsty for the highest position in the universe
- set his will against God's will and led the creation into a corporate rebellion against God
- one third of God's angels joined him becoming the evil spirits of the air
- became Satan, the Devil - God's enemy and adversary,
- through this act the universe became polluted by sin and death

Judgement:
- God executed the judgement on the Earth by flooding it with water
- disembodied spirits of the rebellious creatures became the demons - water dwellers

What's next?
The universe is in chaos due to the rebellion.
God needs someone to execute the judgement upon His enemy, Satan.
God will not lower Himself to deal with Satan directly.
The Earth needs to be recovered.

Two wills and two powers in the universe. God vs. Satan. Light, Love and Life versus Darkness, Hatred and Death. The universe is in the heap of collapse where from there is no immediate remedy...
